The London Eye at night

Kings Cross is, with St Pancras International and Euston, one of three London major train stations located very close to each other, in the Bloomsbury area of the city.

Kings Cross and St Pancras stations are practically adjacent, while Euston is a very short walk to the west of the other two, making changing trains among them easy, for example if you travel between the North of England or Scotland (linked to London by Kings Cross and Euston) and the European continent using the Eurostar train to Paris or Brussels, whose London terminal is at St Pancras International.

But Kings Cross is not just a rail station, it's also a quarter of London, which has recently undergone a major redevelopment. The area to the north of King's Cross station, namely beyond it if you come from the heart of the West End of London, which had been put to industrial use for one and a half centuries, is being turned into a lively new city district, with new shops, bars, restaurants, homes, offices, cultural venues.

Historic buildings are being restored. But one of the main conservation works is Camley Street Natural Park, a miraculous nature reserve in an urban environment created from a derelict site that had been used as a refuse dump and now is a little haven of wildlife along a canal, with a pond, a floating platform and activities for kids.

Along with major London attractions like the British Museum, British Library, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Sherlock Holmes Museum, Regent's Park and Charles Dickens Museum, near Kings Cross you can find the lovely London Canal Museum.

Oh, and you'll be in the West End and Oxford Street in minutes, either on foot or by bus or tube.
